김성민

케임브리지 대학교 수학과(Mathematical Tripos)를 졸업했다(BA·MA, Cantab). 재학 중 Part IA에서 First Class 성적을 거둬 트리니티 칼리지 College Scholar(성적우수 장학생)에 선발되었고, GRE 수학 과목시험에서 99th percentile(상위 1%)을 기록했다.

세계 최고 수준의 수학을 공부하며 그가 깨달은 것은, 최상위권을 가르는 것이 '타고난 머리'가 아니라 '문제를 대하는 방법'이라는 사실이었다. 그 방법이 한국 입시에서도 통하는지 스스로 증명하기 위해, 이미 학생들을 가르치던 그는 다시 수험생이 되어 연세대학교 치의예과 논술전형(2022)과 약학과 논술전형(2024)에 잇달아 최초 합격했다.

수능과 평가원 모의평가에서 미적분·확률과 통계·기하를 각각 응시해 모두 원점수 100점을 기록했다.

대성마이맥과 대성학원이 공동 주최한 '제1회 매쓰코리아' 수학강사 공개선발대회에서 입상했고, 강남대성 기숙학원 의대관·대성마이맥 대인라(대성인라이브, 강대K 파이널) 등에서 수많은 학생을 가르쳐 왔다. 2026년 12월부터 대성마이맥에서 고1·고2 내신과 수능 수학을 강의할 예정이다.

Sungmin Kim read Mathematics at Trinity College, Cambridge, completing the Mathematical Tripos (BA and MA, Cantab). A First in Part IA led to election as a College Scholar at Trinity, followed by a 99th-percentile score on the GRE Mathematics Subject Test.

Studying alongside people from around the world who were said to be born for mathematics brought an unexpected conclusion: what separated the very top was not natural talent but the way a problem was approached. To test whether that one principle also holds in Korea's university entrance system, Kim, already teaching by then, sat the exams again as a candidate and was admitted to Yonsei University's dentistry programme through its 2022 essay-based admission and to its pharmacy programme through the 2024 essay-based admission.

Kim sat Calculus, Probability and Statistics, and Geometry on the CSAT and on the KICE mock examinations, scoring a full raw 100 in each.

Kim placed at the first MathKorea open selection contest for mathematics instructors, co-hosted by Daesung MyMac and Daesung Academy, and has taught many students at Gangnam Daesung Boarding Academy's medical-track division and in Daesung MyMac's live classes. Teaching of grade 10–11 school and CSAT mathematics on Daesung MyMac begins in December 2026.

“Mathematics is method, not talent.” This book is the first place that sentence, proven in classrooms and exam halls, has been written down in full.
