If you do not know what to apply first from this book, or how, follow the thirty-day plan below exactly. Choose the one track that fits where you are now. Each track covers four weeks, roughly thirty days, with a goal and a set of actions for every week.

The grades here refer to the five-band system used for school grades under the 2028 framework. Choose your track less by the exact grade than by the place where you are stuck now.

Track A — Grades 1–2 (Top Band): “Eliminate Mistakes and Reach the Very Top”

Even strong students can have gaps in concepts. Identify the causes of lost marks first, then focus on solving familiar material reliably.

  • Week 1 — Map your mistakes: Sort questions missed on recent school exams and mock examinations into the four categories from Chapter 4: concept, calculation, condition, or time. This week’s goal is to discover which categories account for your lost marks.

  • Week 2 — Retrace the questions you got right: Following Chapter 4, find faster and more secure routes through questions you answered correctly. Train not for the answer, but for speed and stability.

  • Week 3 — Reverse-engineer three years of past papers: Extract the tools that recur across three years of your school’s past papers, like the relationship between roots and coefficients in Chapters 2 and 4. Practise using the same tool under different conditions.

  • Week 4 — Optimise time + constructed responses: Cement the time-management method from Chapter 3 through forty-five minutes of solving and five of checking and marking, and check the causes of lost marks in constructed-response questions one by one.

Track B — Around Grade 3 (Middle Band): “Turn Concepts into Weapons”

You seem to know the material, but cannot produce it in the exam. Bring each concept to a state in which you can use it.

  • Week 1 — Weave a concept net: Following Chapter 5, draw a concept map for every unit you have studied. Connect functions, equations, and inequalities on one page.

  • Week 2 — Establish the Five Stages of Decoding: Use the Five Stages of Decoding from Chapter 2 on five questions a day. Replace the habit of solving by eye with solving by hand.

  • Week 3 — Build signals + classify wrong answers: Organise the “condition → concept” signals from Chapter 5 and sort missed questions into the four categories from Chapter 4.

  • Week 4 — Focus on one weak unit + practise for forty-five minutes: Choose your weakest unit and secure it again from the concepts up. At the weekend, practise forty-five minutes of solving followed by five of checking and marking.

Track C — Grades 4–5 (Starting from the Foundations): “Back to the Roots, but Quickly”

What you need now is not ambition, but the right first step. Begin with exactly three habits.

  • Week 1 — Hand, not eyes: Following Chapter 2, do only three questions a day, but write each one out completely by hand. Cover the worked solution and reach the point where you can solve it again unaided.

  • Week 2 — Retrieve root concepts on a blank page: Write the central concepts of Common Mathematics — equations and functions — on a blank page in your own words. This is the retrieval training from Chapter 5.

  • Week 3 — Circle the conditions: Build the Chapter 1 habit of marking the conditions in a question. Start slowly with easier past-paper questions.

  • Week 4 — Become conscious of time + one line on each error: Develop the sense of time from Chapter 3, then organise each missed question with the two-line error notebook from Chapter 4.

Weekly Action Record (Complete It for Your Track)

Rewrite the four-week plan for the track you chose above — A, B, or C — in your own words in the table below, and mark each week when it is done. There is no need to make it grand. Record only the one thing you will do this week and whether you did it.

One line on what changed after thirty days:

After Thirty Days

The aim of this thirty-day plan is not to promise a higher grade, but to review how you study and build a habit. Once the habit has settled, the mark has room to move. Do not rush. As Hyunwoo discovered, change begins at the point where the method changes.

After Four Weeks: Five Questions to Ask Yourself

After a month, being able to answer the five questions below matters more than the report card. Parents can check them with their child; students can check them alone.

Action Check

Thirty-Day Check

  1. Hand: Does the margin of my latest exam paper contain “given” and “required” in my own handwriting?

  2. Signals: For a question I got wrong, can I tell whether I missed the “one-line condition” or failed to call up the tool?

  3. Wrong answers: Is my error notebook two lines of “cause + prescription,” rather than copied questions?

  4. Time: Before an exam, do I plan forty-five minutes for solving and five for checking, or adjust that allocation to my own exam?

  5. Process: Even if the mark is unchanged, is there at least one problem where I am one step less stuck than I was yesterday?
